"Disappointing"
Dayboat Restaurant
Close | More Info
My wife and looked forward to dinner at Dayboat because we had heard such good things about it. The food was good but not superb. What really disappointed us was the service and the noise level which was much higher than we would expect in a first class restaurant. After waiting 20 minutes for our appetizers we then had to wait over 30 minutes for our entrees. When we decided to have dessert and coffee we then had another 30 minute wait. It turned into a long evening. We know that a restaurant can have an off night and so we plan another visit in 2008. Hopefully our bad experience won't be rep ...

"Much more than a store"
Water Prince Corner Shop & Lobster Pound
Close | More Info
Usually on Fridays on my way home, I stop by Water Prince to pick up some extremely fresh lobster and other tid-bits to cook at home for the family, but occasionally I find myself dining with my wife in their dining room or on the patio if the weather permits. The food has always been the most freshest seafood in Eastern Canada! The menu isn't huge, but it will suffice to satisfy you of your shellfish cravings for a while. Shane really knows his fish and how to cook it!

"Charming and Flavourful"
Dalvay By The Sea

This historic mansion houses one of the nicest and possibly one of the best restaurants in PEI. The 100 year old dining room is host to many amazing, culinary treats that won't disappoint. I've been quite a few times with my wife or the whole family and we've always left happy. I can't think of a single bad experience, from the staff to the ambience and food, everything is top-notch.

"Fine Dining in Casual Atmosphere"
Pilot House
Close | More Info
I recently visited PEI to visit some family and the first night we were there they took me to Pilot House for dinner. I was amazed at the clash of styles where a portion is pub like and the other a swanky, upscale dining room. I ordered the Scallops with Thai Green Curry which was excellent and not too spicy. Service was quick and polite and the ambience was intimate with a casual flare. Highly recommended.

"Good food and fun"
Sims Corner

I went here the other night for a little dinner than over to the pub for some great beer on tap with some friends. We had a great time not only because of the company but also because of the great and friendly staff. The dinner was prepared perfectly having the Cajun Tenderloin Tips myself, I can say it was amazing. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals just as much. Looking forward to giving it a try for lunch one of these days!

"Incredibly Intimate"
Off Broadway
Close | More Info
This must be the most intimate restaurant in all of Canada, never mind just PEI. I usually take my lady friends here to get better acquainted and so far it hasn't failed me yet! The food is always excellent, cooked to perfection and they also have their own sommelier, which is an added bonus to impress. After dinner you can go into the 42nd Street Lounge for a relaxing scotch or wine and enjoy some good conversation. These two rooms are the dynamic duo to a sure thing.

"Tons o Fun"
Brothers Two & Finley's
Close | More Info
A great place to go with large groups - they're very accommodating to large tables full of loud people. The food is pretty good, on par with some of the better seafood and steakhouses I've been to around here. The ambience is pretty warm and inviting and we usually end up staying longer than we planned. If you go, try some of their ribs and flatbreads - I think that's what defines them from what I'm hearing and tasting!

"All Inclusive"
Tommy's Garden Terrace and Sun Deck

Meaning that when staying at the Stanley Bridge Resort you get pretty much everything you need without having to leave, including a pretty decent dining room, or two. I've only been to Tommy's with the wife and we had a pretty good time. We were seated promptly and the service throughout the meal was very nice, with a friendly wait staff. Food was alright, nothing I would go out of my way for, but it served it's purpose as portions are pretty generous. It's also got a great view to appreciate while you're wife is talking to you and you're not really listening.

"Well Rounded"
Dayboat Restaurant

These guys have one of the best menus in PEI. I know it's yet another seafood restaurant but their chef Sean Furlong seems to know what he's doing, experimenting with new flavours that really shine. The dining room is quite rustic and comfortable with a great view of the water. They've got a nice patio too! I had a date there last Saturday night and we really enjoyed the corn breaded oysters and the mains. We will be going back, that's for sure.

"Very comfortable"
Trailside Inn & Cafe
Close | More Info
I took my wife here for the first time last weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. The setting is very comfortable and being inside a B&B makes it all the cozier. The dining room is really relaxing with big windows and nice scenery to enjoy while eating. We had the seafood chowder to start and I had the digby scallops while she very much enjoyed her Spanokopita, a spinach pie. Everything tasted like it was cooked fresh and our late afternoon lunch was very enjoyable from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

This is a great place for meeting out of towners as I've come to eat here often when meeting business associates without having to traipse all over town. I don't need to hang around with them all afternoon and they can get back to doing whatever it is they were doing in their hotel room. The food is quite good, good enough for these "associates" and the service is usually above par if you ask me. The dining room ambience is pretty relaxed with a definite air of MBA. I don't know if it's worth going out of your way for, but if you're in the area and want something you can count on for decent fo ...

"Great atmosphere"
The Merchantman Pub
Close | More Info
This has been my favourite neighbourhood pub for years and I just can't get tired of it. The ambience is extremely welcoming and warm year round. The food is what you'd expect, maybe slightly better than most other pubs I've been to. But it's the sitting around a large table with some friends that really drives this place. Residing in a historic building with exposed brick and wood beam ceilings you're instantly made to feel at home. Prices are pretty fare too!

"Italian In PEI"
Sirenella Ristorante
Close | More Info
If you ever get tired of the straight up seafood that so many places offer, here's a great restaurant that puts an Italian flare to seafood. With dishes like salted cod with herbs or honey glazed grilled salmon, you're getting something different which is what I've been looking for, for some time. They also have some really nice beef dishes. The ambience is quiet and relaxed and perfect for a date or anniversary. Not a bad wine list to boot.

"Best Mussels in PEI!"
Flex Mussels Inc
Close | More Info
I know this must sound like the owner of Flex writing this, but I just can't say enough about how good these guys make their mussels. I've eaten in and taken out and these mussels are always the best. I've had mussels in many other establishments around PEI, but I'll always come back to Flex! I think they're really good at it because that's pretty much all they do! The fries are really good too - makes a perfect combo for lunch or dinner.

"Great!"
Chez Yvonne's Restaurant and Bakery
Close | More Info
My parents used to take me here when I was quite young, now 30 years later I'm taking my own kids to Chez Yvonne. Not a whole lot has changed. The food is still pretty solid along with the service and ambience. There is now a nice little bakery to pick up some items on your way home, which is a great addition. Everything is very fresh and wholesome and I'm sure they're going to be around for a lot longer.

"Fish and Beer"
Gulnare Restaurant
Close | More Info
We stopped off at this place while traveling through Cardigan last summer and we ended up staying for several hours. We first enjoyed a great dinner then moved over to the pub where we drank with the locals and had a blast. The food and service was good enough that we will stop in again next time we're in the area, but it was the beer with the locals that we enjoyed the most. A great destination for any tourist or local in my opinion.
